At Booth Tarmacadam qualified surfacing contractors in Suffolk, we go flat out on training to ensure that our roller operators - and all our tarmac surfacing team – have the appropriate qualifications to deliver a top quality job. We’d like to share the successes of our team members, Ricky and Dean.
As a long-established and independent family-run business of qualified surfacing contractors in Suffolk and East Anglia, we pride ourselves on carrying out residential and commercial tarmac surfacing projects to the highest standards of workmanship, blending the perfect mix of quality materials, a skilled and trusted team together with our years of asphalt expertise.
It’s hugely important to us at Booths Tarmac to encourage our contract surfacing team to step up to the challenge and win the qualifications required to drive their own careers - and our business - forward into the future.
No, we’re not talking ‘Day of the Treffids’, ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ or any sci-fi movie where a leafy monster invades the world – site machinery (aka ‘plant’) for contract surfacing work is heavy-duty stuff and requires skilled handling.
The National Plant Operators Registration Scheme (NPORS) allows employers the opportunity to train their workforce on site or at dedicated test centres, so that individuals can gain a full understanding of how to operate equipment and drive heavy construction vehicles safely. It’s a skill which is of paramount importance to getting a job on site done quickly, efficiently and above all, with everyone’s health and safety in mind once.

The mentor-supported NPORS roller training (which goes towards gaining an NPORS card) really helps individuals work on areas presenting any difficulty and progress their roller-driving skills to meet the necessary standard.
Undertaking tight and demanding manoeuvres and reversing effectively in the tarmac roller is all part of the requirements which both Ricky and Dean met with flying colours. Our thanks go to Construction Training Services – one of Booth Tarmacadam’s go-to workforce training providers.
Construction ‘Cards’ like NPORS are fundamental within our industry. Most principal contractors, major house builders and responsible surfacing contractors require construction workers to hold a valid card to be out on site.
The Booth Tarmacadam team are proud and delighted that Ricky, Dean and another colleague, Damion, have all also achieved success in Health & Safety exams (CITB Site Safety Plus Course and CITB Health, Safety & Environmental test for operatives), gaining their Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) cards »
Thank you lads – your hard work is a great advertisement for the team – just like the first class examples of tarmac and resin-bound surfacing work you help Booths achieve at homes and businesses throughout Suffolk and East Anglia.
Roll on the next project – and qualification – eh?!
